When you have kids and busy jobs, its sometimes difficult to make sure you get enough riding in. The only conscious compatible solution to this is to take them with you whenever you can. Over the years we’ve used a combination of child seats and trailers. We are now at the stage where we can use a trailer bike for the eldest.
So we took it out for spin this afternoon and it was a roaring success. He’s not quite big enough to put much effort into the pedalling, but we can at least get out and enjoy the summer. Now all I need is for the forward mounting child seat to arrive at the LBS and we will be well and truly away!

Child Trailers

Having two very small children, cycling with the family has not been as easy as if they could ride their own bikes. So with the sun shining and the trails calling, I decided to pay a visit to Escape Route in Pitlochry. The rent out bikes and trailers and all sorts of kit of the biking and outdoor type. They sorted me out with a childs trailer which will take two youngsters side by side or one on their own in the middle.
So with child strapped in inside her car seat we set off. We did a cracking route starting off at the Dunkeld Hilton hotel, headed west along the River Tay, over the Queens Bridge, into Craigvinean Forest before riding across to The Hermitage and then back over the bridge through Dunkeld and down past the cathedral to the hotel.
