Toastie Feet
December 12, 2007 | 1 Comment
I know its the usual bike against a tree picture, but what can you do when you ride mostly on your own
Anyway it was a damp afternoon for a ride - the perfect opportunity to try out my new Specialized Defroster boots out. First impressions are that they are warm, they kept my feet dry and they use the same foot bed as Specialized MTB Comp shoes - which is nice because they fit my plate-wide feet perfectly. Of course you buy a size bigger and wear some chunky socks for the full effect and I did. So warm dry feet and none of that losing circulation in your toes nonsense which I have experienced with other boots. Perfect. Oh and of course the picture is taken near Dunkeld.

Genesis iO ID
October 18, 2007 | Leave a Comment
2008 bikes from most of the larger bike companies are already on the interweb or in the shops. As a confirmed Specialized fan I’m particulalrly impressed with the Pitch for a free-ride / all mountain (whatever that means) bike.
My favourite, however, has to be this beauty from Genesis. I love my iO almost as much as my children and the iO iD looks like it should have the benefits of the single speed but with the convenience of a geared bike.
It uses a Shimano Alfline hub to give 8 hub enclosed gears on a Reynolds 520 steel frame with a pair of Rock Shox Recon XC Air forks. I can’t wait to see one in the flesh.

Garmin Edge 305
April 27, 2007 | 1 Comment
The Garmin Edge 305 is a bike computer with knobs on. At its heart is the High-sensitivity SiRFstarIIIâ„¢ receiver, which is coupled with a heart rate monitor and / or a cadence sensor. This little package provides information on heart rate, speed, distance, altitude and total height gained and lost. The weight weanies should be happy with its low weight of just 88g for a unit which measures 94 x 44 x 23mm.
