Brigsteer

Muddy, cold, slippery, fun, bright - all words that could be used to describe today’s ride. It’s tough staying in Kendal with the family - you have to get out and do at least a bit of riding!

Grizedale on a Rig

North Face Trail - Grizedale

Well I finally picked up the Gary Fisher Rig on our way down south last Wednesday night. The nice chaps from Swinnteron Cycles brought it up to Glentress where they were attending a Trek demo day.
I took it out for a test ride on the road on Thursday to check that all the bits were working as required. I was nearly totalled by a CityLink delivery driver on a narrow lane near Killington Reservoir, but apart from that, all was well.
Sunday was the proper test though. A toddle/mince around the North Face Trail at Grizedale. It was wet and cold and pretty miserable, the North Shore section were super slippery, but we had a good time.
The Rig lived up to its expectations. The large wheels allow it to roll over rocks with ease and the air fork feels pretty plush to me. I’m just glad I changed the order from a large to a medium. It is super tanker-esque as it is!

Claife Heights

I’m in the lucky position of living in Perthshire, but having family in the Lake District. It means I get to ride some of the best MTB terrain in the country.

The ride around Claife Heights, just to the west of Lake Windermere is taken from Richard Staton’s book. You can download the gpx file here.
